Scouting Report
Our #1 player in the 2023 class, Ohland has an exceptional prospect profile as a switch hitting catcher who can run, throw and hit from both sides of the plate. He immediately stands out as an advanced receiver and will be a huge asset to his pitching staff throughout the year. Offensively he can avoid tougher match-ups by never having to set up on the pitcher’s arm-side. Expect that to lead to a high average and consistent power. Washington commit
Ohland stands at an athletic, well-proportioned 5-foot-10, 180-pounds with room to still add muscle onto his frame. He’s an impressive athlete, especially for a catcher, starting his workout at a Preseason ID this March by running a 6.81 in the 60-yard dash. Ohland’s hands work from both sides of the plate, though his left-handed stroke may prove to be his most valuable offensive asset down the road. He was all over the barrel during BP at that same March event, posting a 93.4 mph average exit velocity and an 89% hard-hit rate with a max exit output of 98 mph. Defensively, Ohland’s arm flashed on-the-bag accuracy during his workout while peaking at 78 mph from the chute with pop times in the 1.94-to-2.09 range.
Ohland is a 5-foot-10, 140-pound, switch hitting catcher in Missouri’s 2023 class. He ran a 4.31 home-to-first and posted an exit velocity of 84 mph. During batting practice, from both sides Ohland showed simple knee pinch loads, loose hands, repeatable swings, good extension with hard contact. Behind the plate, Ohland has good actions, soft hands, moves well laterally, momentum towards target, high three-quarter release, positional velo of 70 mph, fairly accurate throws, pop times between 2.06 and 2.19 seconds.
Ohland is a 5-foot-10, 140-pound, switch hitting corner infielder in Missouri’s 2023 class. He ran a 4.31 home-to-first and posted an exit velocity of 84 mph. During batting practice, from both sides Ohland showed simple knee pinch loads, loose hands, repeatable swings, good extension with hard contact. On the infield, smooth actions, quick transfer to release, momentum towards target, positional velo of 73 mph, accurate throws. Ohland’s raw ability, good actions and athleticism make him a prospect to follow as he continues to develop.
