Scouting Report

8/11/2019: AREA CODE GAMES- Dutkanych did not allow a hit in his two innings of relief, working 89-92 in the first and more 87-88 in the second. There is some effort out front after a shorter arm stroke as he aggressively attacks hitters with a quick arm, and the ball jumps on the plate out of a high ¾ slot. Pitching mean, he has a “kill pitch” in a true, short-breaking slider that he rips off at 79-83, and he exhibits confidence throwing it to both right and left-handed hitters. In his second inning of work, he started the first batter with a right-on-right changeup that showed some fading action at 82 mph. That confidence to throw any pitch to any hitter stood out in his quick stint, and while he did walk a couple batters in his first inning, he also struck out a pair, so the ability to get his own outs is present. With three pitches that have a chance to be above average offerings, and a projectable, athletic, 6-foot-3, 190-pound frame, Dutkanych looks the part of a future starter, and has a chance to continue making quick progress moving forward.

6/8/19: INDIANA STATE GAMES- The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Dutkanych ran his fastball up to 93 mph, consistently sitting 88-92. He has sound mechanics with a quick, clean arm action. His slider sits in the upper 70s to low 80s with tight spin and late bite—a potential plus pitch in the future.

2/23/2019: Andrew Dutkanych IV, RHP/3B, Brebeuf HS, 2022, 6 foot 2, 185 pounds, continues to show high level ability, especially for his age. Has made a velocity jump from the fall as his FB sat 88-91 at this event. Changeup shows his feel for pitching and is a plus pitch with short fade life and sat 76-79. CB sat 72-73 with sharp down action and tight spin. Also showed a tight slider at 79-80 mph.

Fall 2018: Young RHP impressed during his lone inning of work. Clean mechanics and repeats well for age. Arm stroke is short and quick. Good tempo throughout delivery to plate. FB sat 84-86, T87 and pounded the zone. FB showed some arm side run at times. Showed good feel for CB at 68-71 for strikes and swing/misses. CH showed fade action at 74-76. High follow 2022 in Indiana.

7/24/18: High upside 2022 RHP prospect who projects well. Pitches from high ¾ arm slot. Repeats mechanics well for age. Arm action is loose and easy. Gets good extension out in front and works well downhill. FB showed good angle to the plate with some sink action at times. FB sat 80-82 T84. CB showed future out pitch potential. 11/5 shape with late action at 62-65. Also showed slider at 72-74. Extremely high upside 2022 who could be one of the top 2022 pitching prospects in the state.
