Scouting Report: 10/16/16- Florida recruit. Stands at 6-foot-2, 170 pounds with a lean, athletic, projectable build. Possesses high baseball IQ and shows advanced, athletic actions all over the field. At the plate he stays balanced with a confident approach and good hand eye coordination. Has loose hands with a short, quick stroke that results in line drives all over the field and into the gaps. Aggressive base runner who not only gets good jumps and makes good turns, but also looks to take advantage of mistakes in the field. Had a single to left-center field during the game and immediately took second base when the play developed too slowly. In the field he shows range, awareness, a quick release, and the ability to charge the ball or make the tough play deep in the hole. Throws across the diamond are accurate with carry. With the combination of his toolset and the projection he still has to build upon, look for McConnell to continue to stay high on draft boards and be a possible day one pick in the draft.
