The 11^th annual Super 60 Pro Showcase is less than two weeks away. And once again, the event’s roster is loaded with the top draft-eligible prospects within the Prep Baseball Report’s eight-state coverage area.  

This year’s event is set for Sunday, Feb. 3 at the Max-McCook’s 125,000 square-foot open turf facility in McCook, IL.

For the first time players from Michigan will be invited to attend the prestigious Super 60. 

In the rich history of this event, there have been many indelible performances. But last year’s overall showing may have been the best ever, as 24 of the 29 pitchers sat 88-plus, while 19 of the 39 position players ran sub-7 60s, to name a few highlights.

Although it will be a tough task, this year’s assemblage of prospects very well may surpass last year’s output. The 2013 class is top-heavy with pitchers, and this year’s roster reflects it.

The players representing Michigan will be No. 2 Nick Deeg (Lake Orion HS), No. 8 Tyler Bradner (Howell HS), and No. 9 Hector Gutierrez (Detroit Western International HS).

Nick Deeg has the potential to be the sleeper of the event. This past summer Deeg sat 87-89mph with his fastball at a few workouts.  The Central Michigan commit possesses all of the qualities of a potential draft pick.  He is 6-foot-5, left-handed and has long loose limbs.  His arm action is clean and whip-like.  He will showcase three pitches for strikes.

Tyler Bradner is perhaps one of the more intriguing players in the state of Michigan. For me he draws comparison's to Tyler Burgoon, who eventually was drafted out of Michigan in the 10th round.  Like Burgoon, Bradner is smaller in stature around 5-foot-11 but his arm works well.  We had him up to 92mph this past summer and he flashed a hard slider at 83mph. Overall Bradner is an excellent athlete and should represent the state well. He is committed to Kellogg Community College.

Hector Gutierrez will be fun to watch.  He should run well and be around a 7.0 or sub 7.0 in the 60-yard dash.  He has smooth actions in the infield.  Gutierrez also has had some interest on the mound as he has been up to 93mph in the past. Gutierrez is committed to Michigan, and certainly could see his stock rise.
