November 15, 2011
Carlos Ortiz (2012/Lincoln Heights)
The 5-foot-11, 175-pound outfielder has an athletic build. From the outfield, the left-handed throwing Ortiz registered a top velocity of 87 mph. He uses a clean and easy short arm action that generates carry on his throws. At the plate, the left-handed hitter has an athletic, balanced setup. He uses a short stride and an explosive lower half. He uses a quick load and keeps his hands inside the baseball while reaching consistent extension at the point of contact. He is one of the top hitting outfielders in the Class of 2013.
David Hare (2013/Kings)
The 6-foot-2, 165-pound prospect is a versatile player with the ability to play the outfield and first base. From the outfield, the right-handed thrower uses long arm action from an over the top arm slot to generate a velocity of 82 mph. At the plate, the switch hitter continues to show the makings of a Division I prospect. While he only recently started to hit from the left side, he displays a well-balanced, natural swing with plenty of pop.
Derek Turocy (2013/Canfield)
The 6-foot, 175-pound outfielder has a solid, athletic frame with room to fill out. From the outfield, the right-handed thrower uses an over the top arm slot and generates a velocity of 81 mph. Best of the Rest
Zachary Garcia (2012/Highland)
The 5-foot-7, 150-pound prospect, who also catches, displayed a velocity of 76 mph from the outfield with short am action from over the top. At the plate, the right-handed hitter uses a quick load and downward bat path that generates a line drive swing.
Clayton Torok (2012/Kirtland)
The 5-foot-7, 150-pound left-handed prospect throws from a ¾ arm slot and registered a velocity of 72 mph. At the plate, the left-handed hitter uses a balanced setup. At times, he tends to open his hips early, taking away from his power and extension and resulting in a slappy, backside swing.
Kyle Torok (2012/Kirtland)
The 5-foot-8, 150-pound right-handed prospect throws from a high ¾ arm slot and registered a velocity of 71 mph. At the plate, the right-handed hitter tends to bar his arm, which slows his bat speed and results in a slappy swing.
Timothy Benner (2014/Walsh Jesuit)
The 5-foot-9, 165-pound right-handed throwing prospect uses short arm action and an over the top arm slot to register a velocity of 81 mph. At the plate, the right-handed hitter uses a slightly open stance. He shows line drive potential, but his extra pre-swing hand movement leads to inconsistency at times. He is an interesting follow for the Class of 2014.
Hunter Smith (2012/Perrysburg)
The 6-foot-4, 200-pound prospect a big, solid frame. At the next level, he likely projects as a first baseman, but from the outfield, the right-handed thrower displayed long arm action and an over the top arm slot with a velocity of 79 mph. At the plate, the right-handed hitter displays shows the makings of a middle of the order bat. He uses a narrow stance with a medium size stride. The ball explodes off his bat as he shows pull power.
