Straight line speed is very easy to measure. Whether it’s done with a laser timing system or the old standby stop watch, a player’s ability to cover 60 yards can be timed and his result can be compared to others to determine how fast he is. Baseball speed is something entirely different. It involves the ability to utilize a 6.65 60-yard dash time to affect the game. Player who have speed, quickness, agility and an understanding of the game have the ability to affect the outcome of the game in so many ways the traditional player does not.

In today's "12 Days of Christmas" article we take a look at the top three prospects in Pennsylvania who have the type of baseball speed that can affect every game.

Jimmy Webb, Class of 2015, Loyalsock Township HS
Webb is a 6-foot-1, 170-pound All-State OF who runs a 6.50 60-yard dash. His game speed is electrifying. As a freshman in 2012, Webb used his blazing speed to become a premier outfielder in the state in his first season of high school competition. He hit .507 with eight triples, 26 RBI and an impressive .729 on-base percentage. Webb is ranked No. 3 in PA and No. 21 in the PBR combined rankings in the Class of 2015.

Stephen Sada, Class of 2013, Saegertown HS
Sada is a 5-foot-8, 155-pound MIF who is a prototypical lead-off hitter. He has gap power with triples speed.  He runs a 6.60 60-yard dash and utilizes that speed in multiple ways in nearly every game. The Miami of Ohio recruit has stolen 62 bases in three high school seasons. Sada has the ability to bunt for a base hit or hit the long ball. In 2012 he hit seven doubles, two triples and two home runs. He completed the year hitting .517 with a .648 on base percentage. Sada is ranked No. 17 in PA and No. 147 in the PBR combined rankings in the Class of 2013.

Evan Fardella, Class of 2013, Pocono Mountain East High School
Fardella is a 5-foot-11, 170-pound OF who runs a 6.60 60-yard dash. In addition to being able to go get the ball in the outfield, the Wagner University recruit also has an 88 mph throwing arm. Fardella hit .367 in 2012 with six doubles, four triples and a home run. He used his plus speed to swipe 25 bases. Fardella is ranked No. 26 in the PA Class of 2013.
