The College Calendar: Part II - Winter Break

The college calendar and the way different programs approach their time on the field can give prospects a feel for a coaching staff.   One of the most important sections of the calendar, in getting ready for the spring season, is the winter.  Players, and teams, that commit to their preparation during the winter months put themselves in position to maximize their spring season. 

As players are working through the recruiting process, an understanding of the expectations on a player, throughout the year, can give the player a better feel for the program and its goals.  For committed players, an understanding of the expectations will allow the player to hit the ground running, working to stay ahead of the curve and continue their development.

Winter Break

The NCAA has a rule in place that does not allow an out-of-season sport to participate in any team activities the week prior to exams, through exams, and while out of session.  For baseball players this can pose a problem.  Lets just look at a normal throwing program, working to build arm strength and get players ready for practice sessions in January.
