The Canadian College & University Showcase - Quick Hits
February 15, 2019
With the first event of 2019 in the books, and with a different twist to the showcase as it was more focused towards players who possibly could pursue post-secondary education in Canada, but not entirely saying some of these players won’t end up on the other side of the border though either.
The turnout from College and University coaches here in Ontario was outstanding, showing the dedication and passion they all have for the game, and their programs.
With over 80+ players in attendance, there was a lot to like as players have definitely been getting after it this off-season, and some new faces that popped up who we will making sure to mark with a follow as we inch closer to spring.
Below we take a look with our “Quick Hits” edition and highlight some of the players in attendance.

THE ARMS
Adam Shoemaker LHP / 1B / St. Benedict, ON / 2021Report: Shoemaker is someone you notice as soon as he gets off the bus. The left-handed pitcher is a long 6-foot-4, 170-pounds and he repeats his delivery with feel and balance that is nice to see from a frame like Shoemaker. The high school junior worked in the low 80’s range with good angles on his fastball and was able to command to both sides of the plate. Threw a couple really good changeups and a breaking ball with 2/8 shape that had depth at times. Definite follow for schools, the arm works and there is a lot to like from Shoemaker as it was a quality pen with stuff that is only going to get stronger and play up. |
