Team Preview: Campo Verde
February 4, 2021
Players in Arizona have been eager to compete for their high school programs and it feels as we are getting close. The Arizona Interscholastic Association has announced that opening day of the 2021 season will commence on Monday, March 1st. Programs will allowed to begin practicing while holding tryouts in an official capacity before moving on to live competition. The PBR Arizona staff will start to begin its 2021 season coverage starting with our Preseason Power 25 rankings. Over the next two months and leading up to opening day, we will be highlighting some of the top programs in state in our team previews. PBR will also be publishing its state Power 25 rankings that will be updated every Monday once the season begins. Throughout the season, PBR will be pumping out coverage, highlighting individual players, games, rankings, scouting reports and nominating a player of the week. PBR looks forward to getting out there this spring to see some great baseball.
Our Preseason Power 25 rankings coverage starts today.

OUTLOOK:
Campo Verde didn't have a great start to the 2020 season (record wise) with a 2-5 start. Don't let that fool you though as they lost some close ball games to good competition. Coach, Jeff Singer has also changed the culture of this team and they have gotten to work this offseason. They currently land on the bubble in our P25 Preseason rankings and have potential to move up. This team has some under radar talent in the Senior class with some young quality sophomores that could make some noise. Pitching for the Coyotes should be strong area this year led by Senior right-hander, Ryan Schiefer (GCU signee) who is arguably one of the top arms in the state. Don't be surprised to see some fastballs topped in the low to mid 90s once the spring gets in full swing. Schiefer will be headed to PBR's Super 60 this week which is an event for some nations top HS draft prospects. Schiefer's status might give an impression that he's the lone leader of this team. However, Senior outfielder, Jayden Smith (South Mountain CC) has been leading this team as one of the top players on the squad for a couple years now. He gives this team energy towards the top of lineup and controls the OF. He is one of the more consistent bats around, gets on base and creates havoc on the bases. Don't count the Coyotes out this season.
