For the first time in the events 8 year history North Carolina and South Carolina players will populate Team Carolinas.
Team Carolinas will play three games. On Wednesday, all position players will be put through a showcase workout in which they will run 60s, take batting practice and be evaluated at their primary position. Pitchers on the Team Carolinas roster will work live to hitters in the course of the three games.
Team Carolina will feature 18 players. As we get ready for Grand Parks, we will take a look at several players that will make up the Team Carolinas roster. Today we look at 2020 catcher Chet Sikes from Wesleyan Christian Academy. Sikes handled a superb pitching staff this spring en route to a state title. Strength is present in the body and the arm has advanced carry from behind the dish.

6 feet, 180-pound build with strength in his frame. High upside with strength and quickness present. Good athlete, ran a 4.99 forty yard dash. Hits from the right side using a balanced setup with a short stride for his load. Simple swing but can be robotic at times. Above average bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 92 mph. Shows a gap to gap approach with a short path to the ball, getting extension out front. Good barrel awareness. Behind the plate he shows quick feet with clean, quick exchanges and pop times recorded at 1.94-2.00. Uses a short arm action working to a high ¾ slot with his arm peaking at 78 mph to second base and some carry to his throws. Athletic setup and transfer. Sits in his stance well with easy hands handling pitches to all parts of the plate. Easy target that flashed an ability to block and keep balls near his frame. Good player whose athleticism will play behind the plate and should allow him to play other positions to add depth to a roster.
