The 2023 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Tennessee.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Murfreesboro at The Spring Fling as they compete for a state championship, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Tennessee. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing other pieces of content covering the Volunteer State.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our players of the week, updating the Top 10 in each TSSAA classification as well as a Power 25.

Returning eight arms and four positional starters heading into the 2023 season, head coach Wes Anderson and the Mustangs are coming off a Sub State run and a 20-18 overall season last year in a competitive class AAAA. The Mustangs will rely heavily on a few key returning pieces for the upcoming 2023 season including '23 SS and Kentucky signee Landon Franklin, '23 OF Tucker Ownby, '23 C Connor Crumley, '24 OF/LHP Braxton Smith, '23 RHP Chipper Franks and '23 C/1B Logan Wallace who are all upperclassmen that also look to take on leadership roles amongst a heavy core of underclassmen that include '25 C Jordan Smith, '25 OF/RHP Bryson Kent, '25 INF/RHP Michael Pledge, '25  INF/RHP Cooper Cantrell, '25 OF/LHP Cooper Henry and '25 INF/RHP Carson Minnix. Look for a solid group of sophomores to play a vital role in different areas of the game for the Mustangs for the 2023 high school spring season as well.
