Pettigrew has a rangy, athletic frame with longer limbs at 6 feet, 165 pounds. He has an advanced approach at the plate with a balanced set-up, fluidity and rhythm. He generates easy bat speed and barrel whip, getting extension through contact while showing a gap-to-gap approach. Defensively, he has plenty of arm strength to stay on the left side with carry to his throws. His hands are soft and athletic and he plays through the ball well.
