Nutof is a rare example of a player late to the prospect scene. He popped up on radars last summer at the White Sox Black and Silver Showcase, sitting 89-91 with a loose, quick and athletic arm action. He also showed feel for three pitches. He was uncommitted at the time, but things heated up quickly. His velocity was down at the Area Code Games, where he sat 84-87 and lacked command, but he had a fading changeup in the mid 70s and his arm action was loose. He started an 8 a.m. game at the World Wood Bat Championship in late October and didn’t disappoint, sitting 88-89 in the first inning and touching 90 while showing solid command of a low-70s curveball. He was 87-88 in the second, but still touched a 90.
