Rutledge has an athletic, projectable frame at 6-foot-8, 255 pounds with plenty of room for continued physical development. His arm works quickly and cleanly from a high-3/4 slot. He is slightly across his body and has a shorter stride for someone his size, but he hides the ball well. His fastball ranges from 88-92 mph with heavy sink and run when down in the zone. His breaking ball is slurvy and inconsistent at 77-81, but he has flashed a darting slider. He also mixes in a changeup in the low 80s.
