Olson is a long, lean and projectable southpaw with good rhythm and athleticism in his delivery. His arm is long and loose from high-3/4 slot, consistently producing 83-85 mph fastballs. He touched 89 at the Iowa State Tournament in late July. His breaking ball has 1/7 shape with depth and tight rotation, sitting 68-71 mph. He uses a changeup sparingly.
