Super 60 Showcase Spotlight: 1B/RHP Jextin Pugh

The 11th annual Super 60 Pro Showcase is set for Sunday, Feb. 3 at the Max-McCook’s 125,000 square-foot open turf facility in McCook, IL. . And once again, the event’s roster is loaded with the top draft-eligible prospects within the Prep Baseball Report’s eight-state coverage area. PBR began operations in Pennsylvania in April of 2012 and for the first time in the event's history, Pennsylvania players will be represented.
In the rich history of this event, there have been many indelible performances. But last year’s overall showing may have been the best ever, as 24 of the 29 pitchers sat 88-plus, while 19 of the 39 position players ran sub-7 60s, to name a few highlights.
Although it will be a tough task, this year’s assemblage of prospects very well may surpass last year’s output. The 2013 class is top-heavy with pitchers, and this year’s roster reflects it.
Over the next three days we will take a look at the prospects who will represent Pennsylvania at this premier event.
1B/RHP Jextin Pugh, Bishop Guilfoyle HS, Class of 2013
Pugh is a 6-foot-3, 220-pound 1B/RHP who signed with Binghamton University in November. The right-handed thrower possesses a fastball capable of touching the low 90's and command of his complimentary pitches. Pugh will have an opportunity to be a two-way player at Binghamton.
The left-handed hitter is a dependable defender at 1B, but is most impressive when he steps to the plate. Pugh is a power hitting middle of the order run producer with legitimate home run power. He represented Pennsylvania in December at the 2012 Power Showcase at Marlins Stadium in Miami.
Pugh will attempt to lead his Bishop Guilfoyle Marauders back to the PIAA playoffs in 2013. Last year Pugh was the hard luck loser in a 2-0 loss to Neshannock HS and Florida State recruit John Sansone in a first round state playoff game. Pugh plays travel baseball for the Flood City Elite program out of Johnstown, PA.
Pugh is ranked No. 9 in the PA Class of 2013 and No. 85 in the PBR combined rankings. More information about this year’s Super 60 will be coming in the days ahead. Below is the confirmed roster:
