Super 60 Showcase Spotlight: 1B Shane Dressler

The 11th annual Super 60 Pro Showcase is set for Sunday, Feb. 3 at the Max-McCook’s 125,000 square-foot open turf facility in McCook, IL. . And once again, the event’s roster is loaded with the top draft-eligible prospects within the Prep Baseball Report’s eight-state coverage area. PBR began operations in Pennsylvania in April of 2012 and for the first time in the event's history, Pennsylvania players will be represented.
In the rich history of this event, there have been many indelible performances. But last year’s overall showing may have been the best ever, as 24 of the 29 pitchers sat 88-plus, while 19 of the 39 position players ran sub-7 60s, to name a few highlights.
Although it will be a tough task, this year’s assemblage of prospects very well may surpass last year’s output. The 2013 class is top-heavy with pitchers, and this year’s roster reflects it.
Over the next three days we will take a look at the prospects who will represent Pennsylvania at this premier event.
1B Shane Dressler, Red Land HS, Class of 2013
Dressler is a 6-foot-4, 215-pound power hitting left-handed hitter who committed to VCU in November. He is ranked No. 4 in the Class of PA 2013 and No. 46 in the PBR combined rankings. Dressler looked every bit the part at the PA Top Prospect Games in October. The Red Land High School senior ran a 7.31 60-yard dash, threw 81 mph across the infield and had a very solid 90 mph bat exit velocity. Dressler showed soft hands and good feet at first base during infield evaluations, but saved his best for his round of batting practice. He used a slightly open stance and a very solid lower half to drive baseballs to all fields. Dressler put an exclamation point on his round when he hit a ball off the foul pole in right field. The ball hit roughly 3/4 of the way up the pole and caromed back into shallow right field.
