Stoneman Douglas Continues to Roll

Thursday night featured a matchup of #2 Stoneman Douglas taking on a talented American Heritage Delray team.

Jayden Dubanewicz got the start for Douglas. He surrendered zero runs on six hits over five innings, while striking out eight.

Douglas got the scoring started early. A passed ball followed by a two run single for Dillon Moquin gave the Eagles an early 3-0 lead.

Up 4-0 in the fifth, Stoneman Douglas broke the game open. An error and a sac fly made things 6-0. Alex Lazar added an RBI single followed by a wild pitch to score another. The Eagles led 8-0 after five.

In relief for the Eagles was Luke Cherry. The southpaw threw two shutout innings while striking out five. In the 6th, Gavin Gargiulo doubled in a run for the Eagles to make it 9-0.

Despite not scoring, American Heritage totaled seven hits in the game.  Alejandro Vazquez and Evan Fernandez both collected multiple hits for the Stallions.

Devin Fitz-Gerald went 2-for-3 at the plate with a double to lead Stoneman Douglas in hits. Douglas would go on to win this one 9-0 on Thursday night and improve to 22-0 on the season.
