Brandon Hall
North Carolina Director of Scouting

PBR summer evaluations are rolling right along.  This past weekend, PBR was on hand for a combined scout day with Top Prospect Baseball and the Punisher Prospects.  Each team's players had the opportunity to go through a full pro-style workout prior to playing in controlled scrimmages.

Today we break down the statistics gathered from the event, looking at the top performers in each category.  To see the full list of statistics gathered during the workout, for every player in attendance, CLICK HERE (Top Prospect Baseball) and HERE (Punisher Baseball).

PBR Scout Day: Statistical Analysis of Top Prospect Baseball and Punisher Baseball

Top Max Fastball

The arms threw in a controlled scrimmage with PBR scouts looking on.  Each player worked to hitters showcasing their stuff and command.  Below are the top fastballs from the event.

TOP EXIT VELOCITY

Offensive players worked through several stations before taking live BP.  At the exit velocity station, players worked off a tee, with a radar gun reading the exit speed of the ball off the bat.  The top exit velocities are below.

TOP POSITIONAL VELOCITY - INFIELDERS

Infielders worked out from shortstop, taking live ground balls and throwing them across the infield, allowing scouts to see carry, accuracy, and arm strength.  Below are the top recorded arm strength numbers from the event.

TOP POSITIONAL VELOCITY - OUTFIELDERS

Outfielders were able to take batted balls from a fungo, working through their catch and exchange to make live throws to the bags.  The throws allowed scouts to evaluate arm strength, carry, and accuracy.  Below are the top recorded radar readings from the outfielders positional work.

TOP CATCHER POP TIMES

Catchers were able to throw to 2B with infielders simulating a catch and tag.  The catchers pop time reading has scouts start their stop watch when the ball hits the catchers glove and stop the watch when the ball hits the middle infielders glove, over the 2B bag.  Below are the top catcher pop times from the event.

TOP 60 YARD DASH TIME

Players were able to run a full, laser timed 60 yard dash in the workout.  These players started from a base stealing start.   The top 60 yard dash times are below.
