Today, PBR Oklahoma will take an in-deep look at the 2017 Moore Lions.

Season Outlook
To say the 2017 Moore Lions are poised and ready to improve on their 2016 campaign would be a tremendous understatement. This club will be senior heavy  with eight players ranked in the top 175 of OK’s 2017 class, more than any other school. Moore will return six starting position players and four arms that threw over 15 innings each from a year ago. The Lions will feature a talented starting rotation, a power in the middle of the order, and experience throughout.

On the mound, the Lions will boast not only talented starters, but a hand full of skilled relievers as well.  A.J. Moore will likely lead the way for Moore on the mound with a fastball that can touch 90 mph, and good feel for a deceptive changeup and a sharp slider. Joining Moore in the starting rotation could well be right-handed seniors Michael Taylor (No.98), and Korde Busby (No.55). Both are long athletes on the mound that tout well above average high school fastballs. Two more seniors, John Cupps (No.143) and left-hander Grant Reeves (No.142), could play big roles out of the pen or in the rotation for Moore.

Offensively, there will be no lack of power in the Lion order this season. Drew White (No.43) will lead the way at the dish with strength and a knack for finding the barrel. Look for White to have an excellent year. Also supplying pop will be two sport stand Josh Detweiler (No.112) along with Casey Cooper (No. 145) and Matt Reeves. Two more key pieces, Joe Balak and Chris Herb (No.119), will undoubtedly add to the offensive assault.

Defensively, a sure handed and athletic junior, Bryce Mosier, will anchor the infield from the short stop position. Detweiler will likely captain the outfield with his above average arm and ability to track down the baseball. Balak will add some versatility and give Moore some options defensively with his ability to play multiple positions.
