In a desire to best cover high school baseball in the state, PBR Oklahoma will be on the road this winter stopping by the practices and gathering information from teams around the state, highlighting top performers and difference makers for each club. Today, PBR Oklahoma will take an in-deep look at the 2017 Jones Longhorns.

Season Outlook
A team that has as much resent success as anyone at the 3A level making the state tournament four of the last six seasons, will look to bounce back after an early post season exit in the regional final last season. The 2017 Jones Longhorns will feature six returning starters along with three arms that threw over 15 innings a piece in last year’s campaign.

On the mound, Jones will look to 6-foot-5, 200-pound junior left-hander Cody Farmer to lead the way. Others that will likely fill spots in the rotation include right-handers Jase Farmer, Grant Garrison, and Kade Chinn. Chinn will provide leadership and experience on the staff as it’s only senior.

Offensively, the young, but physical Jase Farmer will lead the way for the Longhorns. Another sophomore, Dylan Weiher, will have a huge impact as well. Two athletic juniors, Harrison and Levi Messner, will also be steady contributors to the run scoring.

Defensively, Jones will be strongest on the infield and behind the plate. Harrison will likely captain the infield form the shortstop position. Sophomore Jarren Maples will be to his left as an above average second baseman. Receiving throws will be Jase Farmer at first base. Wieher will handle the talented staff from behind the dish. In the outfield, Adam Sutherland will bring experience and leadership.
