Today, PBR Oklahoma will take an in-deep look at the 2017 Carl Albert Titans.

Season Outllook
The 2017 Carl Albert Titans fell just short of the state tournament last season. This year, they will look to break through and make a deep run into the state tournament lead by five returning starters to the lineup, four of whom will return to the mound as well.

On the mound, the Titans will be very deep, with talented arms in every class. The likely ace will be senior left-hander T.J. Mullins, a Grayson JC commit, ranked No. 54 in Oklahoma.  Also in the starting rotation could be Oklahoma Christian commit Cline Corley (No. 99),  NOC Enid commit right-hander Dylan Reeves (No. 111) and junior sinker-baller Jordan Compton.  Other important contributors could include junior Zane Alexander, sophomores Bo Durren and Clayton Frazier, and freshman left-hander Carson Thomas.  Don’t be surprised if there are even more names that produce on the mound for the Titans as well.

Offensively, the Titans may have no super star, but will be solid throughout the lineup. Setting the table could be the switch hitting sophomore Cater LaValley along with Alexander. In the middle of the order Compton, Mullin, and Corley will look to drive the ball into the gaps. Sophomore Patrick Murphy could be primed for a breakout year, and may make a big immediate impact. Again, other young talent may develop quickly and make contributions as well.

Defensively, the Titans will rely on versatility. With many of the infielders pitching, the ability of Corley, Compton, and LaValley to play multiple infield positions will be utilized often.  Alexander will anchor the outfield in center field with the ability to make great reads and get good jumps. The catching position reminds wide open with a number of players that could see time behind the dish including seniors Corley, Caleb Evans, Bronton Swanner and junior Wiley Sellers just to name a few.
