PBR: Why did you choose Olney?

Parker:  I chose Olney because I felt that it presented a place for me to progress my skills to be able to receive better offers in the next couple of years as well as helping me adapt to college life and living away from home. 

PBR: Where did Olney first see you compete?

Parker: To my knowledge I believe Olney only ever saw me once. They attended an Indiana State camp I was at and liked what they saw.  

PBR: What other schools did you consider?

Parker:   I visited probably close to a dozen places, but when it came down to making a decision I was considering Purdue, Danville, and Olney.

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play during your first year on campus?

Parker:   Coach Conley and Coach Westray expect me to come into the fall and to progress well, so in the spring I can be a major piece of what the team accomplishes as a whole.

PBR: You play for the Indiana Prospects during the summer, how did playing for them help you as a baseball player?

Parker:   Playing for the Prospects as well as Hoosier Diamond has been great. I've had an opportunity to play with some of the biggest names in the 2013 class, and I've also played against some of the greatest teams in the country. I think that has prepared me the most for college.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Parker:   My dad has done more for me in accomplishing my goals as a baseball player than anyone, but it takes a village to raise a child.

PBR: Heading into your senior year at South Putnam what are your goals individually and as a team?

Parker:  My personal goal as a senior this year is to try my best to make the people around me better whether by showing them certain tricks on how to do things or just showing up and pushing myself as hard as I can to be an example. I won a sectional title as a freshman and I want another one more than anything in the world, and I'm pretty sure everyone on the team wouldn't object to winning one. 

PBR: What aspect of your game do you believe needs the most improvement?

Parker:   I think mostly I need to improve my ability to put the ball where it needs to go. I know I can throw 86-87 and that could go up, but no matter how hard you throw you have to be able to place the ball.

PBR: Have you decided on a major, or narrowed it down?

Parker:   I'm not absolutely sure on a major right now, it will depend on where I transfer to, but my family farms and I'd like to have some kind of agriculture related degree that will help me farm after I graduate.
