ORANGE, CALIF. - The SoCal ProCase was held at Hart Park in Orange, California on Sunday, September 25th. This event was an invite only event held for select players in the 2023 class. These players went through extended pro-style workout that included batting practice using Trackman and Blast Motion, participated in defensive evaluations, athletic testing using Swift Performance, and concluded with a simulated game.
Pitchers were able to throw in simulated outings during gameplay and were able to get numbers and metrics off of our Trackman unit, such as pitch velocity, spin rate, horizontal & vertical movement & much more. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing.
Prep Baseball Report events across the country have been powered by Swift Labs industry-leading portable system to capture pinpoint accurate, actionable data from player performances as it pertains to speed and athletic testing. Prep Baseball Report and Swift Labs are dedicated to recognizing talent and unleashing their potential.
At the event all participants are tested on the Swift Labs JumpMat to measure RSI and vertical jump allowing glimpses into the players current athleticism. The sequencing of the test varies based on what is being administered. In addition to the JumpMat, position players were put through a laser timed 60 yard dash. Also measured using Swift Labs state of the art laser system were 10 and 30 yard splits providing further insight into current athleticism and potential.
This data goes directly into the player profiles allowing the PBR Staff, college coaches and professional scouts alike to evaluate and compare prospects on a national scale.
Continuing off our post-event coverage for this event, we take a look back at some of the leaders from each statistical category. Please continue to check back over the next week, as we will release individual scouting reports on each player present at the event. Below are categorical leaders in the various athletic testing components measured at the recent SoCal ProCase.
60 YARD TIME
Runner starts from a base running position; Time starts when he leaves the first gate and ends when he clears last gate.
30 YARD SPLIT
Runner starts from a base running position; Time starts when he leaves the first gate and registers when he clears third gate.
10 YARD SPLIT
Runner starts from a base running position; Time starts when he leaves the first gate and registers when he clears second gate.
PEAK RUNNING SPEED
The maximum speed reached during the sixty yard run. Measured in miles per hour.
PEAK RSI
Reactive strength index (RSI) is the ratio between the height jumped and the ground contact time, calculated by dividing the jump height by the ground contact time. RSI is used as a measure of reactive jump capacity and displays how an athlete copes with and performs plyometric activities.
PEAK JUMP POWER
This is the maximum power measured by the time from when an athletes lands on the EZE Jump mat to when he elevates off the EZE Jump mat.
PEAK JUMP HEIGHT
The maximum height achieved during the vertical testing portion. Height is measured in inches.
