SoCal Players of the Week: 3/2-3/8/20

With the start of the season in the CIF-San Diego Section the 2020 high school baseball season is underway in Southern California and already we have been privy to several standout performances in the early goings of the season. Because of the amount of standout performances around the region we are going to try something different and award a Player of the Week honor to a player in each section. This means we’ll have a Player of the Week for the San Diego Section, the Southern Section, and the LA City Section if players from these sections are nominated. 

Congratulations are in order for Brian Kraft, Gage Jump and Matthew Aguilar as they have been awarded the Player of the Week for their respective sections for the week of March 2nd - March 8th. 

CIF-San Diego Section

Senior LHP Brian Kraft of Torrey Pines HS  threw a no-hitter against Patrick Henry High School on Tuesday, March 3rd. Kraft faced 24 batters, walking 2 and striking out 5 on 78 pitches. Kraft is committed to play baseball next year at Pacific University in Oregon.  

CIF-Southern Section

Junior LHP Gage Jump of JSerra HS had a special outing against state ranked Huntington Beach. The UCLA commit threw 5 1/3 innings allowing only one hit while walking none and registering a career-high 13 strikeouts on only 69 pitches. One of the top left handed pitchers in the state, Jump is sporting a 0.00 ERA with 27 strikeouts, 2 hits allowed in his 15.1 innings pitched on the season. 

CIF-LA City Section

Senior C/OF Matthew Aguilar of Birmingham HS had a big day against state No. 1 JSerra going 3-for-3 with a double as the Patriots handed JSerra their lone defeat on the season. 

For their efforts last week Brian Kraft, Gage Jump and Matthew Aguilar have been named the Prep Baseball Report SoCal Players of the Week for the week of March 2nd - March 8th. We salute their accomplishments and wish them and their teams continued success both on-and-off the field.
