LOS ANGELES, CALIF. - With the start of the season in the CIF-San Diego Section the 2020 high school baseball season is underway in Southern California and already we have been privy to several standout performances in the early goings of the season. Because of the amount of standout performances around the region choosing one player for the weekly honor was quite difficult.
Congratulations are in order for senior Lucas Scott of Long Beach Poly High School as he has been awarded the SoCal Player of the Week for the week of February 20 - February 25, 2023.
Scott, a two-way player for the Jackrabbits and a UC Irvine baseball commit, had a monster two-way performance in his one and only game last week. At the plate he was 2-for-3 with the big blow coming on a two-run home run that all but put the Jackrabbits up 6-0 in top of the fourth. He also added a walk. On the mound he was equally impressive going five scoreless innings with zero walks and five strikeouts to earn the win for Long Beach Poly 8-4 over St. Paul. He gave up back-to-back hits in the first inning and would proceed to scatter three hits the next four innings of work. Registered a strike out as the third out of an inning twice while finishing with five total.
We salute senior Lucas Scott of Long Beach Poly High School on earning the Prep Baseball Report California SoCal Player of the Week.
