Irvine, CA - The Prep Baseball Report - California ID event provided a platform for SoCal players to showcase their skills after a summer of training. Despite the restrictions throughout the state the showing was a successful one. From batting practice home runs to curve balls for strikes, many of the players have not missed a beat. There is always work to do on the baseball field and the players showed that they are continuing to work hard.
Baseball technology in the form of Trackman and Blast Motion continues to be a wonderful tool to evaluate players. Blast Motion provides three scores in the form of Plane, Connection and Rotation on a 20-80 scale. This helps paint a clear picture of what Blast Motion is tracking and what the player excels and does not excel at. With this score players are provided explanation and tips for improvement. As always, pen to paper scouting notes and eye tests from the scouting staff are hard at work. The combination of technology and in person scouting continue to strengthen reporting.

Arm: RH. OF - 76 mph. Clean and quick arm action. Gets feet under him to make strong throws. Accurate one hops and some on the fly that flashed carry to the bag.
Defense: Takes good angles and comes through the ball. Takes some stutter steps to reset feet when fielding the ball which hurts momentum.

Arm: RH. INF - 74 mph. OF - 74 mph. Slower to release and throws over the top. Gets his arm up early and catapults it to the bag. Throws on an upward angle.
Defense: In the OF he gets around the ball and comes through it hard. Gets good momentum but has to reset feet to make throws. Showed quick feet at 1B and ability to quickly get to his throwing motion.
Run: 7.79 runner in the 60.
Delivery: Rhythmic delivery. Uses an over the head hand pump and syncs it with his higher knee lift. Drifts down the mound and opens up his front side early in the delivery. Finishes online with home but weight falling off to the 1B side of the rubber.

Steeper plane to the ball. Lets the ball get deep and gets hands inside the ball. Resulted in many up the middle/oppo hits.
Power: 84 mph exit velocity. Pre-swing body movements help maximize his strength in his swing. Tons of room for bat speed gains.
Arm: RH. INF - 71 mph. OF - 78 mph. Longer arm action that comes out of a higher slot. In the OF gets good air under his throws at times getting to the bag without a one hop. In the INF arm action is a little shorter and quicker. Mostly accurate throws.
Defense: In the OF he attacks the ball and comes through it nicely. Uses momentum to get off a big crow hop which helps give him more on throws. INF he moves well to his glove side and takes some unnecessary steps before release.

Power: 85 mph exit velocity. With some strength and bat speed gains, gap to gap power will come soon.
Arm: LH. OF - 80 mph. Solid actions in getting to the ball with getting around and through it. Unnecessary stutter steps after receiving the ball makes him slower to release.
Defense: Decent arm for level as it flashed good carry. Uses a larger crow hop that sets up feet and resets momentum. Throws had some armside tail but that didn't affect accuracy.
Run: 7.40 runner in the 60.

Power: 86 mph exit velocity. Will have trouble developing power with his longer swing. Some correction in swing mechanics along with bat speed gains should help.
Arm: OF - 71 mph. Shorter compact arm action. A little longer in getting to release. Accurate one hops.
Defense: Fields the ball cleanly and out in front. Gets around and through it with momentum towards the target.
Run: 7.89 runner in the 60.

Arm Action: Compact arm circle in the back that comes out of the H 3/4 slot. When he gets close to release the arm action becomes more into a slingshot towards home. Consistent arm speed and slots on all pitches.
