Sneak Peek: 2014 Mingo Bay Classic (Myrtle Beach, SC)

I have officially had it with winter. Today I booked my flight, arranged for a car rental and located lodging in Myrtle Beach, SC. I'm not moving, just getting prepared for a bit warmer weather and a week of baseball in April.

The Mingo Bay Classic runs three weeks every spring in one of America's favorite golf getaways. For schools up and down the eastern seaboard Myrtle Beach is a baseball destination as well. The 1st and 3rd weeks of the tournament are limited to 16 teams total in each week. The middle week of the event takes place during the week leading up to Easter and has an unlimited number of entrants.

This year the the 2nd week runs April 14-19 and has 92 teams from all over the East Coast. The teams are designated to play at 10 different sites where five games are played daily. Every team is guaranteed four games with the possibility of a fifth game if they make their championship round on Saturday.
