Sneak Peek: The Fall Top Prospect Showcase

Sunday’s Fall Top Prospect Showcase featured a mix of talented athletes in the 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 classes. With a mixture of colleges in attendance, over 70 prospects showcased their skills. Here’s a sneak peek at what we saw on Sunday.

Chandler Day (Watkins Memorial HS, 2015), relatively unknown until this event, stole the show on the mound. The 6-foot-3, 160-pound lanky right-hander displayed an 85-87 mph fastball that touched up to 88 mph. Wes Noble (Lebanon, 2014) continues to impress with quick arm speed and a consistent 86-88 mph fastball. Another highlight includes Cole Quillen (Tippecanoe HS, 2015), who showed two-way potential with an 82-84 mph fastball from the left side along with a sharp 67-70 mph breaking ball. At the plate, he showed quick bat speed with a controlled upper-cut. Nearly twenty arms were in the low to mid 80’s at this event. Several other standout arms included RHP Mitch McNabb (Bishop Ready HS, 2013), LHP Caleb Ferguson (West Jefferson HS, 2014), RHP Zac Carey (London HS, 2014), and LHP Nick Bennett (Moeller HS, 2016)

Blaine Griffiths (Lakota West, 2014) is a solid, athletic corner outfielder that shows the ability to make solid contact from both side of the plate with power potential. Paul Collins (Goshen HS, 2015) and Logan Giddings (Pickerington North HS, 2015) each displayed smooth, compact left-handed swings with power potential.
