John Judy was the everyday starting catcher for Hampshire this past spring as a sophomore driving in 11 runs with a .318 on base percentage. The 6-foot, 150-pound junior will likely see some action next spring on the mound as evidenced by his solid outing on the mound at the Shenandoah Valley College Prospect Showcase. The righty sat 77-78 from a high 3/4 arm slot and flashed a solid 12/6 curveball at 64 mph. He demonstrated the ability to command three pitches and was able to repeat his delivery.
Judy displayed a short swing path and balance throughout his swing in using all fields during batting practice with a bat exit velocity of 74 mph. Behind the plate, Judy turned in pop times of 2.09-2.19 on throws of 72 mph from the crouch. He showcased sound catch and throw technique and demonstrated solid blocking skills.
