Seymour Defeats New Albany 2-1 Brown steals Show

Jeffersonville vs. Bedford North Lawrence

Jeffersonville got everything they could handle from Bedford for 6 innings, but in the end Jeff was too talented for the Stars. Nick Gallagher used his 77-79 mile per hour fastball to go along with a sharp breaking ball to Keep Bedford off balance. Gallagher threw a complete game only giving up one run in a 6-1 win.

Offensively, Jeff struggled early driving in runners, but in the fifth with the bases loaded and one out sophomore phenom and No. 2 ranked 2014 player in Indiana, Drew Ellis, delivered a 2 run RBI single. Jeffersonville will play Seymour tonight in the sectional Final.

Seymour vs. New Albany

When New Albany sends ace Josh Rogers to the mound they expect to win and rightfully so. Rogers was 9-0 coming into the game and is considered to be one the best pitchers in the state. Josh consistently sits 88-89 and has a hard 80-81 breaking ball that he consistently throws for a strike. Today, the story is about Zach Brown from Seymour.

Brown led off the game with a double to left field and then scored on Brian Clark single. Three pitches one run. Matthew Lucas took the ball for Seymour and kept New Albany off balance and avoided the big inning which was all Seymour needed him to do. Lucas scattered 8 hits in 6+ innings of work only giving up one run.

Brown and Clark would team up again in the fifth this time Brown would single with two outs and Clark would drive him in with an RBI double.

In the top of the sixth, Lucas walked Logan Striegel and gave up a hit to Eric Burnett on a perfectly executed hit and run. With runners on first and third and nobody out, Seymour turned the ball over to junior Zach Brown. Brown would proceed to be dominant retiring 6/7 hitters he would face. Brown sat 87-89 and showed a hard breaking ball anywhere from 78-81. He did what good closers do, come in and shut the door. Brown will be given the ball tonight against Jeffersonville at 6pm.
