SCOUTING REPORT
Showcased solid feel for a lean 5-foot-8, 162-pound frame with room to add strength as he matures. The primary left-handed pitcher sat 78-81 mph with arm-side run out of a repeatable, high ¾ arm-slot using an up-tempo, tall setup upon landing. Mixed in a 59-62 mph curveball featuring 1/7 shape down in the zone. Countered with feel for a 61-63 mph splitter showing off present arm-side run and occasional depth. The switch-hitter mirrors from both sides starting with a bent, balanced stance utilizing a lift-and-replace stride to initiate a flat barrel path into the hitting zone. Generated a line drive approach to all fields during batting practice while hitting into a stiff front side. Ran a 7.72 60-yard dash. The outfielder displayed adequate footwork during defensive evaluations while arriving on time to the baseball with regularity. Recorded an accurate 81 mph arm-strength out of a fluid, high ¾ arm-slot.
THOUGHTS ON THE FUTURE
"With a lot to like on the mound, Lenzi features pitchability and a feel for three pitches in the zone. It seems as though there is more in the tank with the fastball (81 mph) as he lands a little tall effecting his deceleration during release. With more leg drive and an improved finish in the delivery, the LHP should see improvement on all pitches across the board. His splitter at 61-63 mph showed late depth and small arm-side run, and with increased arm speed on that pitch, his strikeout numbers should jump north in a hurry. Overall, Lenzi is an intriguing LHP just coming into his own and should utilize this time to add strength onto a lean 5-foot-8, 162-pound frame and continue being athletic throughout the whole delivery."
PLAYER COMPARISON
*Many times coaches will ask our staff "Who does he remind you of?" Player "comps" are a popular tool in the scouting/recruiting world and we have decided to add that niche to our feature articles.
