SCOUTING REPORT
6-foot-1 185 pound RHP/1B who ran a 8.30 60. Offensively- Slightly open stance with feet shoulder width apart; quiet take back of the hands with a short stride forward. Stays behind the ball with some natural lift in his swing path. Elevated two-handed finish with flyball/line drive results. Should develop some gap power as he gets more explosive. Exit velocity was 74 MPH but plays better. Defensively- Proper low to the ground setup with hands out in front; slight delay after fielding before getting into his throwing motion. Arm action breaks across the belt and is a low 3/4 arm slot. Throws across the diamond peaked at 72 MPH. Improving agility and release will make him a solid defender over the long term. Pitching- Sets up to his glove side on the rubber; from the windup he uses a short drop step with a leg drive just above the belt. Arm action is long and works through a traditional 3/4 slot. Repeatable landing and finishes square to the plate. Easy effort with an arm that showed late acceleration. FB sat 78-80 MPH with some arm side run, 2S FB showed some sink. CB had early action at 63-65 with 12-6 break. Good differential on the change up at 70-71 but will need more command over the long term. Tools are there to be a formidable dual player over the next few years.
THOUGHTS ON THE FUTURE
"Sanders has an impressive frame that will continue to get stronger. Really like his easy going effort both on the mound and at the plate. Unlike alot of younger players there seems to be a calm about his approach. The bat will continue to project and he has the fundamentals down around the bag. On the mound there is some good spin/break to the breaking and once it sharpens up will be a legit secondary offering for him. Clipping the 80 MPH mark with minimal effort is a good sign of someone who will be able to sustain velocity in his outings and continue to climb in that department."
