New Episode LIVE now! At The Yard Podcast

ORANGE, CALIF. - The Rising Stars Games ID showcase came through SoCal with a stop at spacious and scenic Hart Park in Orange, home of the 2019 DIII National Champion Chapman Panthers and Orange Lutheran baseball teams. For many players it was an introduction to what PBR California is all about, which of course is baseball. With the 2025 class about to start their first year of high school, it was a great introduction to modern baseball with TrackMan and Blast Motion technology on hand.

catchers

Henry Armstrong, The Bishop's School (CA), 2025
Positional Profile: OF/RHP
Body: 5-8, 160-pounds. Medium build. More filled out upper half for his age.
Hit: RHH. Slight lean into his back hip in stance. Rocks onto his backside and comes back forward using a smaller stride. Presses into the ground with his lead leg to stay balanced with his swing. Swing is direct to the ball and works on a more level path. Post impact results were positive with most balls leaving the bat with good backspin. Showed a middle of the field approach.
Power: 85.00 max exit velocity. Current singles power. Swing is clean. With better use of his lower half and increases in bat speed, more power should come.
Arm: RH. C - 67.00 mph. 4/5 accurate throwdowns. Shorter arm action that gets quick to release but lacks armspeed/strength. Higher arcing throwdowns that came down toward the bag.
Defense: 2.11-2.22 pop times. Quick feet and exchanges from behing the plate. Sets up upperbody well to get off accurate throws.
Run: 8.43 runner in the 60.

Nathan D'Acquisto, Poway (CA), 2025
Positional Profile: SS/2B
Body: 5-9, 155-pounds. Early signs of an ideal catchers build, speed would help.
Hit: RHH. Aggresive in the box, ball sounded good off the bat, took a hack, leg kick to hitting position, low finish.  Blast Motion scores 58/59/55. Solid across the board, showing that his aggressive swing has quality mechanics to its swing path. Scores will continue to improve and provide an offensie minded catcher.
Power: 84.00 max exit velocity.
Arm: RH. C - 66.00 mph. Short arm swing, below-average velocity, inconsistent throws to second, arm needs work but there is potential.
Defense: 2.21-2.24 pop times. Framed well, sat deep to receive, tried to work low to high, cheated on throwdowns, potential behind the plate.
Run: 8.12 runner in the 60.

Jayton Greer, Huntington Beach (CA), 2025
Positional Profile: C/1B
Body: 5-7, 140-pounds. Medium build and frame, with a strong lower half. Room to fill out.
Hit: LHH. Slightly open stance with some bend in the knees and a straight back. Has relaxed hands with a bit of wiggle for rhythm.  Gets his foot down early, and hands go back early with it and get into loaded position ready to explode. Middle of the field approach and found consistent barrel throughout his BP round. Max exit velo got up to 86 mph showing potential for some power if he continues to add on strength.
Power: 86.00 max exit velocity.
Arm: RH. C - 69.00 mph. INF - 71.00 mph. Short arm action, great use of long hops on deep throws in IF and on throw downs from C.
Defense: 2.09-2.21 pop times. IF- Good fundamental actions, put himself in great fielding positions. C-  Quick transfer, keeps ball close to body. Gains good ground on throw downs.
Run: 8.16 runner in the 60.

Joshua Hartman, Rancho Bernardo (CA), 2024
Positional Profile: OF/SS
Body: 6-3, 185-pounds. Big, sturdy build. Long frame with a strong lower half.
Hit: SH. Swing set up mirrors each other on both sides. Feet are square and hands are up around his ear with a flat bat and a bit of wiggle.  Has a medium size leg kick and the rhythm and timing is with his hands and leg kick are consistent form both sides of the plate. Has a powerful and compact stroke and consistently made loud contact in BP. Averaging 85 mph, and getting up to 95, the power potential is there and the ability to make hard contact consistently is already prevalent
Power: 95.00 max exit velocity.
Arm: RH. C - 76.00 mph. INF - 80.00 mph. Short clean arm action. 4/5 accurate throwdowns. Quick catch and release. Throws from 1B are more inconsistent.
Defense: 2.05-2.14 pop times. C- Quickest pop time of the day, and was an imposing presence behind the plate. Quick catch and release. 1B- Infield actions aren't as natural as behind the plate. Hands need a bit of softening up.
Run: DNR.

London Hudson, JSerra (CA), 2024
Positional Profile: OF/RHP
Body: 6-0, 170-pounds. Slender build with present athleticism. Longer limbs. Some projectability is there in the frame.
Hit: RHH. Is slightly open with his feet and hips in stance. Closes his hips back up with some internal rotation in his load. Hands stay tight to his body throughout the load as he uses a pretty small forward move. Direct approach to the ball that is steep-level. Let the ball get deep and let his hands play inside the ball. Used the middle of the field throughout his round.
Power: 89.00 max exit velocity.
Arm: RH. C - 66.00 mph. INF - 64.00 mph. OF - 69.00 mph. Below average arm. From the outfield, all throws were accurate 1/2 hops. Throwdowns he was 3/5 accurate and throws were more higher arcing that came down toward the bag.
Defense: 2.18-2.31 pop times. OF: Showed a solid approach to the ball. Attacks it with decent momentum. Needed extra steps to set up crow hop. 1B: Average actions in terms of feet and glove skills. Solid fundamentals around the bag when receiving throws. C: Decent footwork. Gains ground towards second. Average in quickness in getting to release.
Run: 7.65 runner in the 60.

Hunter Kaul, Christian (CA), 2023
Positional Profile: C/RHP
Body: 6-1, 180-pounds. Long, lean, and athletic frame with some present strength.
Hit: RHH. Sets up slightly open with his weight shifted a bit more onto his backside. Hands are relatively high around his back shoulder and has a bit of bat waggle that he uses for rhythm and timing.  Has a large leg kick that triggers one more bat waggle before he pushes his hands into a loaded position and points the bat vertically with a bit of bat tilt. He hit nearly 60% of the balls in his round for a line drive and with a max exit velocity of 90 mph he shows potential to be a real offensive contributor while also playing behind the plate.
Power: 90.00 max exit velocity.
Arm: RH. C - 74.00 mph. Consistent and accurate throws. Has a short and quick release and keeps his hands tight to his body. Showed on last throw ability to utilize long hop on throw downs. Gained good ground toward 2B on throws.

Run: 7.24 runner in the 60.
