Prep Baseball Report Mississippi was at Smtih-Wills stadium on Tuesday to catch the District 6 tryouts for the MS State Games. The open event included 2018 and 2019 graduates from the Jackson-Metro area.
Athletic 6-foot, 190-pound frame. Kirkland Trahan, 2018, outfielder, Madison-Central, hits from the left side with tall open, athletic setup, and high hands. Showed fluid rhythm with a slight uphill path, making consistent hard contact with solid bat speed driving balls to the pull side. Showed potential for pull side power.
Lean and physical 6-foot-5, 250-pound athletic frame. Nick Hogan, 2018, 1B, Northwest Rankin, hits from the right side with a tall setup with rhythm in hands. Short and quite leg lift landing balanced, slightly open with a short path, getting rotational at times. Showing solid bat speed and strength in swing.
Khristian Washington, 3B, 2018, Madison Central. Thick 5-foot-10, 200-pound frame with potential for added strength. Washington has a tall setup with rhythm in hands, short and quite leg lift landing balanced and on time. Displayed short and direct path, on a level plane with solid bat speed and strength in swing. Hit three home runs on the day.
Athletic and strong 6-foot-2, 200-pound frame. Walker Burchfield, RHP/1B, Clinton, is a right-handed hitter, with tall, balanced, athletic setup with hands high and tight to the body. Smooth, quite load with small leg lift, direct path and solid bat speed with strength in wrist and forearms. Sprayed line drives from gap-to-gap, Burchfield showed a level path and strength at contact.
Northwestern State recruit. Strong, physical, athletic 5-foot-10, 210-pound frame. Adam Moncure, OF, Clinton, 2018 hits from a tall and balanced setup with fluid rhythm in hands. Small shift of weight, landing balance and consistently on time. Moncure showed a short path with strength and some stiffness in the swing.
