Lots of recruiting news from across Illinois:
Matt Krenz, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound catcher from Prairie Ridge HS, has committed to John A. Logan JC. Few backstops in the state compare to Krenz’s ability to catch and throw. Krenz possesses top-level arm strength, as he registered consistent 1.9 pop times at several events. A starter since his sophomore year, Krenz is also an excellent receiver who blocks exceptionally well.
In other John A. Logan JC news, former Edwardsville HS standout OF Tyler Mikrut, now a sophomore at Logan, has committed to Southeast Missouri State University.
Dylan Rajkovich, a hard-hitting OF/3B from Sandburg HS, has committed to St. Joseph’s College. Rajkovich, who was a starter as a junior last year, possesses big power potential from the right side.
Josh Jimenez, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound LHP from Minooka HS, has committed to Bellarmine University. Jimenez was one of the top performers at the PBR Unsigned Senior Showcase on Oct. 16. He first burst onto the scene as a sophomore, when he posted an amazing 12-1 record pitching behind first-round pick Mike Foltynewicz. The left-hander comes from a lower-3/4 arm slot, and creates good run on his low-to-mid-80s fastball. Jimenez, who served as the Indians’ ace last spring, also throws a curveball and changeup for strikes.
Stefano Belmonte, a 6-foot, 205-pound 3B from St. Rita HS, has committed to Purdue University. A three year varsity impact player, Belmonte burst onto the scene with a monster sophomore campaign in which he belted 11 home runs, 14 doubles and 52 RBI on the Mustangs’ Class 4A state runner-up squad.
Former Alleman standout 6-foot-4 RHP Keelan Prince, now a sophomore at Black Hawk College, has committed to Western Illinois University.
Former De La Salle RHP Joe Ucho, now a sophomore at Prairie State College, has committed to West Virginia University.
Mark Kane from Andrew HS has committed to Prairie State College.
In Class of 2013 news, Joe Pizzolato, a junior SS from Lake Zurich HS, has committed to Sierra College in Sacramento, Calif.
