Brendan McKay is arguably the top left-handed pitcher in the state of Pennsylvania and the most prized recruit in his class that has yet to make his college commitment. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound junior is ranked No. 6 in PA and No. 34 overall in the PBR combined Class of 2014 rankings. McKay turned in an impressive performance at the PBR Midwest Future Games last summer raising his stock as one of the top recruits in this class regionally.
McKay has added 20 pounds to his frame since the August event and has actually improved on his gaudy performance from his first two years of high school baseball. The potential two-way prospect entered the 2013 season with a 15-1 record on the mound and has gone 4-0 to begin his junior campaign with a 0.24 ERA. McKay has worked 29 innings to date with 53 strikeouts and has issued just five walks. He has been equally impressive at the plate carrying a .633 average with four doubles and two home runs thus far.
The unassuming lefty has been in no rush to make his college decision and appears to be no closer to a decision today than when offers began to arrive late last summer. When McKay does make his decision he will add to the list of commitments from a strong upper end PA Class of 2014. Prospects ranked in the top 25 have already made commitments to Arizona, Vanderbilt, Maryland, Stanford, Arkansas, Penn State, Pitt and Seton Hall.
