8/12/16 - 6-foot-3, 190-pound left-handed hitting outfielder with a strong frame. At the plate hits from a tall, balanced setup with a leg kick stride and good balance. Line drive hitter with fluid rhythm and a level swing path. Showed strength thru contact with 90 mph exit velocity from a tee. 4.51 runner down the line. Defensively has a long arm action from an over the top arm slot. Plays thru the ball with a long exchange and full crow hop. Clocked at 80 mph from the outfield.
Alex Steinbach, 3B, Plainfield North, 2017
Parkland JC
10.9.16 - 6-foot-3, 205-pound right-handed hitting third baseman with a strong, athletic frame. At the plate hits from a balanced, spread out setup. Low hand set with a load to backside and short leg lift stride. Gap to gap hitter with fluid rhythm and a fast bat. Showed strength thru contact with 92 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.21. Defensively has a short arm action from a high ¾ arm slot. Accurate throws with carry throwing 82 mph across the infield. Athletic defender with a clean exchange.
Blake Carlson, LHP, Ottawa, 2017
John A. Logan
2/14/16 - 6-foot, 187-pound two-way player, athletic shape. Projects best on the mound, left-handed pitcher, easy arm, long and loose, slight wrap, high ¾ slot. Repeatable delivery, squared landing, smooth rhythm. Fastball has feel, slight arm side run, 81-83 mph, touched 84 mph. Curveball has 12/6 shape, gradual action, 69-71 mph. Changeup has slight fade, fastball arm speed, 73-75 mph. Switch hitter, hits from a balanced stance, smooth loading action, short stride. Left-handed swing showed more confidence, looseness. 93 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively arm action is long, accurate to his target, has some run to it, 84 mph. Showed outfield actions, ability to play through the baseball. 7.29 runner in the 60.
Karter Lowery, 3B, Ottawa, 2017
Heartland CC
2.14.16 - 6-foot-1, 210-pound two-way player, solid build with strength. Defensively arm plays long, average strength, over the top slot, 84 mph arm strength across the diamond. Exchange is clean, average body control. Right-handed hitter, slightly open stance, average balance. Opposite field contact, 82 mph exit velocity from the tee. 7.45 runner in the 60. On the mound delivery is has some effort, works in line, squared landing. Arm action is long, high ¾ slot, occasionally underneath. Fastball has slight run, mostly up, worked 82-83 mph, touched 85 mph. Curveball flashed 11/5 shape, gradual action. 70-72 mph. Changeup has sink, worked down, 77-79 mph.
Cameron Reed, RHP, Huntley, 2017
Luther (IA)
1.31.16 - 6-foot, 140-pound right-handed pitcher with a thin, lanky frame. Works from an over the top arm angle with a short, quick arm action. Drop and drive, uptempo delivery with a high front side and some effort. Showed some command of his fastball that sat 78-79 mph. Curveball was his best pitch, showing 11-5 shape with sharp action and depth at 64-66 mph. Threw changeup for strikes at 70-72 mph.
Tyler Suchy, SS, Oak Forest, 2017
Robert Morris
7.15.15 - 5-foot-11, 170-pound, average build, right-handed hitter. Hits from a tall, narrow stance, loads back, occasional leg kick, good balance. Average bat speed, long, level bat path, 84 mph exit velocity. Defensively displayed okay hands, ability to play through the ball, short arm action, low ¾ arm slot, 75 mph across the infield. Ran a 7.08 60-time.
Scott Wojcik, SS, Dundee Crown, 2017
Aurora
6.14.16 - 5-foot-7, 150-pound multi-positional prospect. Offensively, right-handed hitter, flashed a quick bat and short path; line drive, spray approach. Balanced setup, short toe-tap stride and average balance through contact. Registered an 80 mph exit velocity off of a tee. Defensively, worked out in the infield and outfield. Reliable hands, plays through the baseball with quick feet. Short arm action, high ¾ slot, clocked at 75 mph from the outfield and 74 mph across the infield. Also ran a 7.64 laser timed 60.
Brad Maurer, OF, Huntley, 2017
North Park
1.31.16 - 5-foot-10, 150-pound right-handed hitting outfielder. Defensively has a long arm action from an over the top arm slot. Accurate throws with carry. Threw 82 mph from the outfield. Plays thru the ball with athletic actions. Offensively hits form a balanced setup with a low hand set. Loads to backside with a leg lift trigger and average balance. Gap to gap hitter with a long, uphill swing path. 70 mph exit velocity from a tee. Home to first at 4.54.
Colin Walton, RHP, Bremen, 2017
South Suburban JC
6.16.16 - 6-foot, 180-pound, strong bodied prospect. In the field, short, high ¾ arm, 71 mph across the diamond. Offensively, right handed hitter, balanced setup, short stride. Short, uphill bat path, pull side approach; exit velocity registered at 85 mph. Also, ran a 7.65 laser timed 60. On the hill, long, high ¾ slot with some effort. Drop and drive delivery style, lands in line, athletic finish. Fastball, sat 79-82, topped 83 mph. Curveball, 11/5 shape, ranged between 66-68 mph. Straight changeup, flashed sink, ranged between 74-76 mph.
