In the latest recruiting news around Missouri:
-LHP Kyler Maxey from Blair Oaks HS has committed to Jefferson College. Ranked No. 34 in the Class of 2013, the 6-foot, 198-pound left handed pitcher has a quick, loose arm with repeatable mechanics and a fastball that tops out at 87-mph. His breaking ball is 62-64 mph with two-plane break and late movement. Maxey’s best pitch could be his 73-75 mph change up, which he showed good arm speed and generated arm side movement and late sink.
-LHP Aaron Patton from Monnet HS has committed to Crowder College. Patton has a lanky 6-foot-5, 190-pound frame, and shows the ability to throw three pitches for strikes. Coming from an over the top arm slot with short arm action, Patton’s fast ball sat an easy 78-81, and with his frame, leads us to believe there is more in the tank. Patton also flashes a 65-67 mph breaking ball with gradual movement and an effective change up (71-73 mph) with late fade. As Patton continues to fill his frame, he should see a spike in velocity as he continues to progress in college.
-1B Ranger Curtis from Clever HS will continue his college career at Hannibal-LaGrange University. Curtis shows good mobility around first base with soft hands and fundamental footwork. Curtis comes off the bag well with throws on a line to second base when turning double plays. At the plate, the left handed hitting Curtis has a balanced stance and quick hands the produce barrel whip through the zone. He shows the ability to square up the ball with pull side power.
