The summer is here and the coaching carousel has begun. Just about every current and former coach in the country is keeping their ear to the ground to be “in the know” on the current hiring’s, firings, and job openings. While many coaches are not looking to leave, the drama around jobs can keep life on the road interesting between innings.
The other carousel that coaches are watching is the player carousel. Commits may be de-committing. Players will be transferring. Graduate students may be looking for their one shot at glory in another program. Today we will take a look at the transfer process with regards to the NCAA rules.
Transferring
A player looking to transfer out of a program will need to communicate that desire to his current coaching staff. The current coaching staff and athletic department will put together a “Release to Communicate” or a “Release to Transfer”.
