The NCAA has many checks and balances for coaches and institutions.  Coaches must take a recruiting test each year and they file a lot of paperwork tracking visits, phone calls, and meals each year.  The NCAA also has some work set up for the prospective student-athlete. 

Every prospective Division I or II athlete must create a profile with the NCAA Eligibility Center.  This profile acts as a central point to collect the student-athlete’s grades, courses, and testing information.  The Eligibility Center will also dive into amateurism issues with incoming college students.  The cost of registering with the Eligibility Center is $80 and this is a one-time fee.  Once registered, the student-athlete can update their information throughout their high school career. 

Information Collected by the Eligibility Center

In order to track and communicate with prospective student-athletes, the Eligibility Center will collect personal and academic information.  Student-athletes will need to give an email address, that they check regularly, as the Eligibility Center will send periodical updates throughout the student’s high school career.  Upon initial registration, the following information will be needed:
