Ronald Sims
Mississippi Scouting Director

The 22nd Annual South Mississippi Futures game took place on May 24th, on the campus of West Harrison high school. The all-star game showcased thirty-eight juniors from across the MS gulf coast region, and PBR Mississippi was there for full coverage.

Mississippi State recruit, 2018 UTL Landon Jordan (Hancock) is an athletic and strong 5-foot-10, 170-pound left-handed hitter. Jordan presented solid bat speed, proportional strength and the ability to backspin baseball, hitting an opposite field homerun in his first at-bat.

Tucker Thomas (Biloxi), 2018 Catcher, 6-foot-1, 190-pound frame has a long and athletic build. Tucker showed a short, compact swing with a slight up-hill plan from the right side, driving a pitch to right-center field for a triple. Defensively displayed solid arm between innings with 2.0-2.1 second pop times.

2018 1B, Eli Lee (Pearl River Central) is a left-handed hitter that consistently finds the barrel. Starts open with small leg lift landing slightly open, with a rotational path and ability to go middle of the field. Lee is balanced through approach with some effort in swing, driving a double to deep center field.

Britt McKay (Ocean Springs), 2018 Catcher,  had solid game defensively, showing athleticism behind the dish.  Gives strong, firm target and showed solid blocking ability. Clean transfer with short arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy and carry on throws, 2.0-2.08 second pop times between innings.
