SORRENO ̶ Last night, Prep Baseball Report Louisiana was on hand for double header action, as Dutchtown would take on 2017 OF Jacob Pearson and West Monroe. The nightcap would the feature 2017 RHP Blayne Enlow and the St. Amant Gators take on Brother Martin. The double header attracted 30 to 40 professionals scouts, sprinkled with crosscheckers and a scouting director.

Game 1

Hinds CC recruit, 2017 RHP Austin Booth (West Monroe) was efficient for the Rebels in the 5-1 victory over Dutchtown. Booth sat 83-85 mph, touching 86 mph with solid arm side run and control. He added a curveball with 11/5 shape at 69-73 mph and a slider with 10/4 shape at 78-79 mph. For good measure, Booth showed quality feel for a changeup with fastball arm speed and fade action. In a complete game effort, Booth struck out 7 while only surrendering 2 hits and 1 walk.

Offensively, the big blast for the Rebels came from Jacob Pearson, as he sent a 3-0 fastball in his 2^nd at-bat, over the right field wall for a two-run homer. Pearson would finish the day 1-for-3 with an intentional walk, 2 RBI, and 2 runs scored.

Louisiana Tech recruit, 2017 IF Taylor Young, would add two hits, a stolen base, an RBI, a run scored, and gave a home to 1^st time of 3.9 seconds on a drag bunt. 2018 OF Slade Bolden, and Louisiana-Lafayette recruit, 2019 IF/RHP Tom Biggs would both collect a hit on the day.

2018 RHP Harrison Hutson would pitch extremely well for Dutchtown, as he held the Rebels to 2 runs through 6 innings of play. He would finish the day with 6.1 IP, allowing 3 runs, striking out 4, walking two, and hitting 2 batters.

Offensively for Dutchtown, Panola CC recruit, 2017 SS Cameron Sibley finished the day 1-for-3, but made hard contact in each of his three at-bats. He showed a simple, direct path from the left side, and showed quality range at shortstop. Nicholls State recruit, 2017 3B Cameron Crawford would finish the day 1-for-2 with a walk, and a run scored. Defensively, 2017 C Cade Blanchard showed off his catch and throw skills with an in-game pop time of 1.9 seconds.

Game 2

The sky began to open up during the final inning of game one, pushing the scheduled start time of game two back by about one hour. Louisiana State recruit, 2017 RHP Blayne Enlow would eventually toe the rubber and was sharp in his complete game outing. Enlow sat 88-91 mph, touching 92 mph, with arm side run and command throughout his outing. Enlow struck out 9 in 7 innings of work, while allowing, 2 earned runs, 3 hits and 1 hit batter.

Brother Martin OF Cole Stromboe would go 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored for the Crusaders. While OF Brendan Brown would finish the day 1-for-2 with 2 runs scored. 2020 1B Tre Morgan wouldn’t collect a hit on the day, but showed advanced left handed bat speed, with a simple, direct path to the baseball that attracted attention from some on-lookers.

2019 RHP Max Padgett would get the start on the mound for Brother Martin, and gave the Crusaders a quality outing. Padgett would go on to strike out 6 in his 5 inning outing, while allowing 0 runs.

For St. Amant, Nicholls State recruit, 2017 IF Ivan Prejean, would finish the day 1-for-2 with a walk and hit by pitch.  2017 1B Larson Fontenot would collect 2 hits with a run scored, and DH Landen Lieux would also add 2 hits, as the Brother Martin Crusaders would hold off a 7^th inning rally, defeating St. Amant by a final score of 3-2.
