The Central Virginia Prospect ID was held on Tuesday June 13 at the Virginia Sports complex in Ruther Glen, VA. Athletes from around the state came to perform in front of the PBR scouting staff and colleges from the state.

Last night, we posted our Statistics from the event. Here are some quick notes on players that stood out during the event:

 

-King’s Fork 2018 Christopher Allen showed speed with a 60 time of 6.81 and showed athleticism in the field.

-Western Albemarle 2018 Derek Domecq showed his two-way talent again, running the top 60 time of the event with a 6.79. Strong arm was on display with 86 from the outfield. Had the event’s highest exit velocity and put four balls out of the park in his last round, plenty of bat speed overall and power to his pull side. Domecq also pitched, the lefty sat 81-83 while showing good feel for his pitch mix, including a two-seamer with heavy sink, a hard, late slider, and a good change-up. Good armspeed on offspeed offerings, good tunneling effect to his pitches. Classic lefty crossfire delivery adds deception and makes him really hard to pick up.

-C.D. Hylton 2019 Nicholas Ericsson showed a quick release behind the plate, pop times ranged 2.04-2.16.

-Mid-Pacific Institute (HI) 2018 Kyle Keahi Layugan had a very strong day. Showed a short swing with some bat speed and easy gap power with potential for more at the plate. Behind the plate, extremely quick release, very clean getting the ball out, pop times were 1.87-1.93. On the mound, sat 82-83, hit 84, loose quick arm, late run on his ball. Showed a cutter with some depth at 77-80 and a curveball at 68-69. Slider was outstanding and true, good armspeed with hard late break 72-75. Change-up was also good, good arm action and heavy fade to the pitch at 69-72. 

-Steward 2019 LHP Logan Ransom sat 81-83 and touched 85. Good arm action with his change-up at 74-76. True slider had late hard break at 71-74, spiked the first two but the rest were very good. Showed a curveball at 67-71. Pounds the bottom of the strikezone with movement, lefty crossfire delivery adds deception, ball gets on hitters quick.

-Collegiate 2019 Lew Rice had a good day too. Ran a 7.24, arm showed some potential on the infield. Quick release behind the plate and was consistent, 1.97-2.08 pop times. Showed some batspeed as well.

-Dominion 2019 Dylan Weber showed some potential on the mound. Low slot lefty hides the ball well, fastball touched 80, sat 77-79. Feel for a running change-up at 68-70. Spins his curveball well at 62-64. Feel for all three.
