Rankings Update: 2017

As we just finished a busy round of winter events we have decided to rework each class rankings and release our initial 2020 rankings as we work through the month. It’s been great to review players and see player’s gains heading into the 2017 season. Today we look at the 2017 Rankings

At the Top

2017 MIF Casey Martin, Lonoke High School
Martin is a 5-foot-11 175-pound MIF/OF with an athletic frame and build. He is a premium athlete running a 6.65 in the 60. Defensively he is a versatile player with arm strength. He throws the ball 84 mph across the infield and 88 mph from the outfield. Offensively he starts from an athletic stance with a smooth load. He has fast bat speed with a slight uphill swing path. He has shown the ability to hit the ball to all fields and has flashed some pull power. Overall Martin has shown he has all the tools and a competitive spirit with a knack for winning.

Movement

CIF/RHP Paxton Wallace moved up to the No.2 spot after a big time performance at the Super 60 over the week-end. RHP Austin Kelly also improved his stock over the week end, moving to No. 3. Showing more command of the strike zone with big time stuff, including a fastball up to 92 mph with heavy sink. The 2017 rankings also added 25 new faces as we expanded the rankings to the top 150 players in the class. Our staff has worked very hard to evaluate this class from the conception of PBR Arkansas in the fall of 2014.
