RHP Kevin Elder ruled ineligible by IHSA
February 18, 2012
Kevin Elder, who’s one of the top right-handed pitchers in the Class of 2012, has been ruled ineligible to play this spring by the IHSA. Elder, who’s committed to the University of Arizona, transferred to Burlington Central in December from Westminster Christian, where he helped lead the Warriors to a Class 1A state title as a sophomore.
The 6-foot, 220-pound Elder appealed, but the IHSA upheld its ruling earlier this week. Elder went 7-2 with a 1.81 ERA last spring, and has recorded 375 strikeouts in 217 innings in his high school career. At the Super 60 on Feb. 5, Elder’s fastball was at 87-88 mph.
Elder will not be eligible to play high school baseball this spring.
Erik Jabobsen of the Sun-Times Media Network explains all the details of the IHSA ruling.
