The Southern Wisconsin Open took place yesterday at STiKS Academy in Oconomowoc, WI. Over the coming weeks we will breaking down the event with complete analysis including the top statistical performers. But first, here’s a quick look at some of the highlights from yesterday’s event.

Fresh off his recent commitment to Madison College RHP Brandon Komar (Elkhorn) showed an impressive four pitch feel for strikes in his bullpen session. His fastball sat 86-87 topping out at 88 mph to go along with a changeup that showed late running action at 76-79 mph.
2018 OF Pierce Blohowiak (Xavier) ran an event best 6.70 60 yard dash and tied for the best velocity from the outfield, throwing 84 mph.
5-foot-11, 170-pound left-handed hitting outfielder Carson Holin (Sun Prairie, 2018) has a strong, athletic frame and ran the second best 60 of the event at 6.88. At the plate he showed a line drive approach with good balance.
No. 38 ranked 2018, SS Ryen Ryba (Homestead) has fluid, athletic actions in the infield and good rhythm at the plate with 88 mph exit velocity from a tee.
RHP Blake Thiesse (Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau, 2018) showed projection on the mound with a solid three pitch feel. His fastball sat 80-82 topping out at 83 mph with heavy sinking action. He showed feel for spin with a sharp, late breaking curveball thrown aggressively at 64-66 mph.
2018 RHP Jackson Brown (Oconomowoc) has a live arm from a ¾ slot running his fastball up to 86 mph.
3B Hunter Wickman (Mount Horeb) had the best power in batting practice and had an event best 98 mph exit velocity from a tee.
LHP Connor Langreder (West De Pere, 2019) showed a live fastball from a ¾ slot with late running action at 80-82 mph.
6-foot-2, 165-pound left-handed hitting outfielder Nick Herbst (McFarland, 2018) had a solid day running a 7.10 60-yard dash, threw 83 mph from the outfield, and showed strength through contact with 87 mph exit velocity from a tee.
