The first leg of the Preseason I.D. tour is in the books after a successful showing at the Kenosha Preseason I.D. Several of the state’s already ranked players showed off the hard work of their off-season, while a number of under the radar prospects came to the forefront. Here’s a look at a few standouts from Saturday’s event.
-
6-foot-5, 185-pound RHP Elijah Campbell (South Milwaukee, 2018) has started to fill out and the velocity is coming with that. He showed his best velocity we’ve seen on Saturday, sitting 85-87 mph with his fastball, a seven mph jump since last seeing him in July. He also flashed tight rotation on his curveball at 69-71 mph.
-
Speaking of upside on the mound, Austin Glidden (Westosha Central, 2019) is a wiry 6-foot-1, 145-pound right-hander with a lively 81-83 mph fastball with arm side action. He has an easy high ¾ arm that is quick and loose and gives him feel for three pitches. He rounds out his repertoire with a 12/6 curveball and fading changeup.
-
Highly physical, 6-foot-4, 215-pound 2018 C Jacob Kaiser (Catholic Memorial) showed off a well rounded game. He has a strong bat with power projection (93 mph exit velocity) and a big arm out of the crouch (81 mph). He has advanced catch and throw skills as well, popping 1.94-2.04 to second.
-
Nick Zeeveld (Indian Trail, 2018) is another physical catcher at 6-foot-2, 190-pounds. His bat played as his best tool making loud contact with quick hands through the zone, projecting as a possible middle of the order power bat.
-
2018 OF Mitchell Seager (Beloit Turner) took one of the best rounds of BP with fluid rhythm and explosion in the lower half. He is a physical 6-foot, 170-pounds and handles the bat with ease, generating an 93 mph exit velocity. Seager also moves well, getting down the line at 4.23.
-
2018 SS Josh Leslie (Westosha Central) was one of the top infield defenders in attendance, he showed athletic actions with fluid footwork and soft hands during the defensive workout, coupled with a big arm across the diamond (85 mph). His right-handed swing repeats and his athleticism transfers well to the box.
-
Westosha Central HS was well represented at the showcase and Bryce Biedrzycki’s bat is also one to keep an eye on. Biedrzycki swung a repeatable right-handed bat with barrel awareness and a short path to the baseball.
-
2019 RHP Jarrett Ramer (Bradford) showed a live arm on the mound with good explosiveness in the lower half. Ramer worked 80-82 topping out at 83 mph with his fastball. His curveball has 10-4 shape at 68-71 mph and showed the ability to throw it for strikes.
-
2020 Cody Horon (Union Grove) showed big arm strength for his age. The 6-foot-1, 197-pound freshman topped out at 80 mph on the mound and across the diamond. He has physicality in the box as well registering an 86 mph exit velocity from the right side.
