May 23, 2014
Dan Cevette
New York Scouting Director
Name: Matt Marsili
High School: Owego Free Academy
College Commitment: James Madison
Position: RHP
PBR New York sat down with RHP standout Matt Marsili for a little question and answer session.
PBR: How did you prepare for the 2014 season?
Marsili: I worked out my legs a lot this off-season
PBR: What are your strengths as a player? Weaknesses?
Marsili: A weaknesses of mine would be controlling my emotions, at times I get very excited but I know I need to find a more middle of the road approach in baseball. My strengths would be that I always compete my butt off on the mound.
PBR: Who is the top player you have faced this year? Top team?
Marsili: Union Endicott would be the best team, and their SS CJ Krowiak would be the best player. He's such a good hitter, he is very hard to pitch against.
PBR: Tell us why you picked James Madison?
Marsili: JMU offered my a great education and the baseball was second to none, great facilities, great conference, and great coaches.
PBR: Tell us a fun fact about yourself others might not know.
Marsili: I love to play golf on my free time.
BUZZ on Marsili: Dan Cevette
Marsili is a workhorse and competes hard on the mound. His fastball touches 87-88 and he throws a hard power curveball at 72-75. Change up needs to improve and he needs to throw it with conviction but he is a very nice prospect. He will be attending our NY Top Prospects Games Aug 16.
