Prep Baseball Report Colorado is ready to hit the ground running in 2015 with two major events. With the Underclass Invitational at Slammers South just two weeks away, limited spots are still available for this event. Over this final week, PBR Colorado will continue to introduce you to 2017 and 2018 players who have committed to this event. Continuing our look at registered players is Jacob Bielat, 5-foot-4, 130-pound, MIF/OF, 2018 from Mullen High School.
PBR: Describe yourself as a baseball player to those who have never seen you play:
Bielat: I am a hustler, scrappy leader that plays the game as hard as I can from the first pitch to the last. I work very hard all year to improve myself as a baseball player. I believe I know this game very well but continue to study the game to improve myself both physically and mentally.
PBR: What would be your dream college to play baseball at?
Bielat: I often dream of playing college baseball however I can't point to one college at this time. I guess it would be where I can make the biggest contribution and is the best fit. Having said that my family has a huge legacy at Michigan State University. It would be awesome to a Spartan.
PBR: What are your best assets on and off the field at this point in your high school career?
Bielat: I am an extremely hard worker. I also like to lead by example.
PBR: What does your off-season preparation look like this year compared to your freshman year?
Bielat: I am a freshman. Currently I take swings daily either off a T, soft toss and tunnel work. I throw regularly and take infield reps as much as possible. For strength I lift 4 days per week.
PBR: What is the best baseball advice you have received and try to follow to this point in your career?
Bielat: Coach Steve Eaton - Your style of play is so important. Sprint on and off the field, down to first base on a ball 4 and always give 100%. Drew Soicher - Play and respect the game in which Abner Doubleday intended it to be played.
PBR: What are your superstitions or routines that go on during a season?
Bielat: I do not have any superstitions. As far as routines I always prepare the night before, I lay out my uniform and double check my bat bag. I also ALWAYS show up on time!
PBR: What are your goals for:
This Season: As a freshman starting second baseman on JV, lead off hitter and lead the team on steals.
Two Years: Starting on Varsity and lead my team to a state championship.
Four Years: Playing at a Division 1 college baseball program.
